Recognition

• "Student of the Day" activities - ask one student per day/week to bring in something from home like pictures or special items. Leave them in the classroom (if OK with the parents) for display. Photo-collage can be hung up.
• Creating opportunities to make students feel connected - classroom names, mascots, school spirit
• Birthday celebrations, can be done by letting the student choose a special job, or singing a song - whatever the teacher comes up with - but it has to be pretty much the same for each child throughout the year!
• Have kid's birthday dates displayed in the classroom
• Display art work of all students (possibly without names on it, to keep it anonymous)
• Take photographs of students during school hours, and display them on the wall or in a photo album. The screen saver on a computer can also be set to cycle through photos.
